Kirsten Austad is an MD candidate in the class of 2013 at Harvard Medical School. Prior to her graduate studies, she received a B.S. in Medical Microbiology & Immunology and English Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in. Upon graduation, she gained experience in international health, conducting community-based projects with health workers in Ghana, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, as well as national health policy through the American Medical Student Association. Kirsten is a former Fellow at the Edmond Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, where she examined the socialization process of medical education and conducted a national survey of American medical students' views about the pharmaceutical industry
